Southside, Baymeadows and Deerwood are on the route most weeks, and the buildings repeat — the same closet, the same drain run, the same equipment fitted the same year. That is usually why the diagnosis is quick.

Old AC Out. New Comfort In.
AC Replacement & Installation in Southside
When your air conditioner is past its prime, more AC repair isn’t always the answer. A new, energy-efficient AC installation can end the breakdown cycle, cool your home evenly, and take a real bite out of summer power bills.
Our Jacksonville team gives you the honest math on AC replacement vs. repair, sizes the new system correctly for Florida heat, and leaves the job site cleaner than we found it — just like this install.

Air Conditioner Repair & Replacement
AC Replacement When Every House on the Street Is the Same Age
Most of the Southside went up in batches — a subdivision at a time, a building at a time, the same equipment through all of it. That shapes the problems here more than the weather does.

In a great many homes here, and in nearly every townhome, the air handler lives in an interior closet or the garage — which means the drain line has to travel before it reaches anywhere useful. A blocked line in that position does not make a puddle outside. It finds the ceiling below it, and the first sign is a stain rather than a noise.
A subdivision fitted out in one season is a subdivision whose equipment reaches the end together. When three houses on a street need a system inside the same year, that is neither coincidence nor bad luck. It is worth knowing where yours sits in that run before it decides for you.
A two‑storey house or townhome on a single system hands the upstairs the warm end of the deal all summer, because heat goes up and the thermostat is downstairs. Balancing, a return in the right place, or a dedicated head for that floor will all fix it. A bigger outdoor unit will not.
Condos and townhomes come with rules about where equipment can sit, what can be seen from outside and what can be heard through a wall. We check that before quoting rather than after, because the placement question is usually settled by the association rather than by the house.
Southside Service Area
Southside HVAC Service, From Baymeadows Road to the Town Center
The Southside covers a lot of ground and a lot of different housing — single family, townhome and condo, often on the same block. This is where the truck actually ends up.
Dense, and heavy on condos and townhomes. More closet air handlers per street than anywhere else we work.
Larger single‑family houses behind the gate, where the systems are bigger and the duct runs longer than the rest of the district.
The spine of the whole district. Nearly every job out here comes off one of the turns from it.
The retail and restaurant side, which we cover on the commercial line rather than the residential one.
Offices and newer building stock along Butler Boulevard — commercial work, and a good deal of it.
The newest end of the run, where the equipment is young and the complaint is nearly always balance rather than failure.

HVAC Repair & Replacement in Jacksonville
Should You Repair or Replace Your AC?
No quote needed, no email, no phone number — just tell us what it’s doing and we’ll give you our honest read.
1How old is the system?
2What’s it doing? tick all that apply
3How often has it needed fixing?
Straight talk: If somebody tells you your system is “illegal now” because of the refrigerant rules — it isn’t. R‑410A systems can still be serviced. New equipment moved to R‑454B in 2025 and R‑410A production is stepping down, so topping off an older system gets pricier every year. That’s a reason to plan, not a reason to panic‑buy tonight.

A Family-Owned AC Company That Gives Back
The dog came first. Great Dane Heating & Air was set up by people who are unapologetically animal people, on the idea that a heating and air company could be one more thing quietly supporting the pet population of Duval County.
So we work rescue events, we visit the animals still waiting at the shelter, and we put a Rescue of the Week out to our followers. It is also why we are a Paw Partner Corporate Sponsor of the Jacksonville Humane Society.

AC Repair for Southside Homes and Condos
A working air conditioner is comfort. In a house or a condo where the equipment is tucked into a closet and the drain line runs through a wall, it is also the difference between a quiet summer and a ceiling repair.

Vetted people in your home
Florida state certified — licence CAC036942 — fully insured, and BBB accredited at an A+ rating. The same small crew every time, which counts for more when the work is inside a closet in your hallway.

The air in a closed‑up house
Newer construction is built tight, which is good for the power bill and hard on the air inside it. Florida humidity feeds whatever grows in that air. Filtration, purification and humidity control deal with the air itself, not only the temperature.

FAQ
AC Repair Questions We Get on the Southside
The questions Jacksonville asks us most — straight answers, no jargon.
Why is there a water stain on the ceiling under my air handler?
Almost always the condensate drain. With the air handler in an upstairs closet or the attic, the water the system pulls out of the air has a long way to travel before it gets outside, and a line that has partly blocked backs up into the pan and then through the ceiling. The repair itself is usually small. The damage, if it has been running a week, is not.
Why is my upstairs always warmer than downstairs?
Heat rises and the thermostat is usually on the floor below, so the system satisfies downstairs and shuts off while upstairs is still catching up. In a two‑storey house on one system the honest options are rebalancing what is there, adding a return upstairs, or giving that floor its own head. We measure what each floor is actually getting before recommending any of them.
My neighbour just replaced their system. Should I be worried?
It is worth a look rather than a worry. Houses in the same subdivision were generally fitted out within months of each other with the same equipment, so they do tend to reach the end around the same time. Knowing where yours sits in that run means you get to choose the timing rather than have it chosen for you in August.
Can I replace the system in a condo, or does the association decide?
Both, in practice. What goes inside the unit is normally yours to choose. Where an outdoor unit sits, what it looks like and how much noise it makes can all fall under the association rules. We settle the placement question before anything is ordered, because finding out afterwards is how a straightforward job becomes two visits.
Is there even room for a new system in a closet that tight?
Usually, and where there is not there are options. Modern air handlers come in more configurations than the one fitted when the building went up, and a horizontal or slimmer cabinet often solves what looks like a dead end. We measure the space before quoting rather than discovering it on install day.
The house is only twenty years old. Is it replacement time already?
Sometimes, and it is worth measuring rather than assuming in either direction. Builder‑grade equipment fitted across a whole subdivision has a fairly predictable working life, and twenty years is within range of it. What matters is what the system measures now and what the duct attached to it can carry. We will say plainly when the honest answer is that it has more life left.
Does duct running through the attic really make that much difference?
A large one. A Florida attic runs far hotter than the house underneath it, and duct passing through that heat gives up part of what it is carrying before it ever reaches a register. Sealed joints and intact insulation on those runs are among the cheaper things that measurably change what the far bedroom feels like.
What is the $99 HVAC Refresh & Tune‑Up?
A full seasonal check‑over of the system you already have — measurements taken, the parts that genuinely foul cleaned, and a straight answer about what needs attention and what does not. On a closet or attic install it is also when the condensate line gets cleared, which is the failure most likely to cost you a ceiling. Cannot be combined with any other offer, one per household.
The house is newer. Why does the air still feel stale?
Because newer construction is built tight. That is good for the power bill, and it means far less of the air in the house is exchanged on its own. Filtration and purification handle what is in the air; humidity control handles what lets things grow in it. Neither is about making the house colder.
Do you do AC repair on the Southside and in Baymeadows?
It is one of the areas we are in most weeks. Southside, Baymeadows, Deerwood and out toward the Town Center are all inside the normal service area at the same pricing as anywhere else we go, houses and condos alike. Great Dane is licensed in Florida as CAC036942, which you are welcome to look up before you let anybody into the house.
Will you tell me if I do not need the work?
Yes, and on equipment this age it comes up constantly — a system that is twelve years old and running correctly does not need replacing because somebody said twelve. It is the part of the job we would rather be known for. If a part is drifting but has not failed you get told that too, with the reading behind it.
What should I check before I call for AC repair?
Three things, none of which cost anything. Check the breaker for the air handler and for the outdoor unit. Look at the filter, because a collapsed one starves the system and imitates a far bigger fault. And look in the pan underneath the air handler — standing water there points at the drain, and that is worth saying on the phone.
