Air Duct Cleaning St. Augustine, FL

Clean Ducts When They Need It, Not on a Schedule

Air duct cleaning in St. Augustine starts with a look inside. The EPA does not recommend cleaning ducts on a schedule. It says to clean them when there is a reason: mold you can see, pests in the ducts, or dust blowing out of the registers. This close to the water, moisture is the first thing we check. We look at the ducts, the coil and the drain pan, show you the pictures, and tell you what we would do.

Great Dane Heating & Air has kept Jacksonville and Duval County comfortable for more than twenty years. We are a family company — the people who answer the phone are the people who show up — with upfront pricing, comfort techs who treat your home like their own, and a soft spot for shelter dogs. Every job we finish gives back to the Jacksonville Humane Society.

    Duct Cleaning St. Augustine

    Signs Your Ducts Need Cleaning

The first three are the EPA’s reasons. The rest are what we see in St. Augustine homes. Tap the one that sounds like your house.

Real growth inside the duct, on the coil or in the drain pan. Not just a musty smell. This is the strongest reason to clean.

Rodents or insects. You usually smell or hear them before you see them. A better filter will not fix it.

Dust puffs out when the system starts, or grit lands on the furniture under a vent. Dust on the grille itself just wipes off.

A roof leak, a storm, or a drain line that overflowed into the attic. Wet fiberglass duct board usually has to be replaced, not cleaned.

Drywall dust and sawdust get pulled into open returns. It is worth clearing out before it circulates.

You don’t know what the last owner did or who lived there. One honest look answers it.

None of these sound like your house? Your ducts are probably fine. Here is how we decide →

    Our duct cleaning process

How Duct Cleaning Works in St. Augustine

No mystery, no pressure, and no work done before you’ve agreed to it.

01 We look before we quote

We take the registers off, run a camera into the main lines, and check the coil and the drain pan. You see the same pictures we do. If it is clean in there, we say so.

02 We protect the house first

We cover the registers and put the system under negative pressure. The dust leaves through our machine, not into your rooms.

03 We clean at the source

Brushes and air tools knock the dust loose so the collection unit can pull it out. We don’t spray biocides or coat your ducts with sealant.

04 We tell you what caused it

Dirty ducts usually have a cause: a torn return in the attic, a filter that doesn’t seal, or a duct that sweats in summer. We show you the fix so it doesn’t come back.

    What’s included

What a St. Augustine Duct Cleaning Includes

No sprays and no sealants. Just the dust out, and a straight answer on why it got there.

    • A camera look firstThe main lines and the branch runs, before any price.
    • Every supply and returnNot just the vents you can see from the hallway.
    • The plenumsThe big boxes where the ducts meet the system.
    • The coil and blowerCleaning the branches and skipping these is not the job.
    • Negative-pressure collectionThe dust leaves the house through our machine.
    • Registers coveredSealed while we work, so nothing blows into the rooms.
    • Your picturesYou see what we saw, inside your own ducts.
    • The cause, in plain wordsA torn return, a loose filter or a sweating duct, and the fix.

    The honest part

We’ll Tell You If They Don’t Need Cleaning

Duct cleaning is easy to sell to people who don’t need it. Dusty grilles are normal. We would rather show you the inside of your own ducts than sell you a job on a guess.

    What you might hear

“Whole-house special, today only.”A low price to get in the door. The upsell comes after.
“You should do this every year.”The EPA sets no schedule. It depends on what is actually in your ducts.
“We’ll fog it with a sanitizer.”Ask what the product is and whether its label allows it in your type of duct.

    What we’ll tell you

“Here are your pictures.”Your ducts, not a stock photo.
“This can wait.”The most common thing we say on a duct call.
“Cleaning won’t fix this one.”When the real problem is a leak, a wet section or a loose filter, we say so.
20–30% of your cooled air, lost to duct leaks

    Where the money actually goes

Cleaning Doesn’t Save You Money. Leaks Do.

We won’t tell you a duct cleaning lowers your power bill, because it doesn’t. This is what does. ENERGY STAR puts it plainly: in a typical house, about 20 to 30 percent of the air moving through the duct system is lost to leaks, holes and poorly connected ducts. You paid to cool that air, and it is being delivered to your attic.

    • High summer bills
    • Rooms that never get comfortable
    • Ducts running through an attic or garage
    • Tangled or kinked flex runs

So when we put a camera in and the ducts turn out to be clean but the system is leaking, that is what we will tell you.

    St. Augustine conditions

What Makes St. Augustine Ducts Different

Old buildings, salt air and a lot of humidity. Here is what each one means for your ducts.

A wall thermostat in a Jacksonville home, set for cooling
Set to 78° — nine months a year
    Downtown Many Have No Ducts

Many historic buildings downtown were built long before air conditioning. Some have no ducts at all, or one short run added later. If your home runs on ductless units, there is nothing to clean, and we will tell you that.

    Anastasia Island Salt and Moisture

Closer to the beach, damp salty air reaches the attic and the equipment. Moisture is what lets mold start in a duct or on a coil, so we look for water first.

    The attic Hot, Humid Attics

Most ducts here run through a hot attic. Crushed or torn insulation lets a duct sweat, and a sweating duct can drip through a ceiling or grow mold.

US‑1 & the west side Flex Duct and Filters

Newer homes inland mostly use flex duct. A kinked or crushed run moves less air, and a filter that doesn’t seal lets dust slip past it. Cleaning fixes neither, so we check both.

    Your family

Keeping Your Family Safe and Cool

A working air conditioner is comfort. Clean, dry ductwork is part of what keeps it that way — especially in a humid St. Augustine summer, and especially with small people in the house.

    • Vetted people in your home

Florida state certified — licence CAC036942 — fully insured, and BBB accredited at an A+ rating. The same small crew every time, not a rotating list of subcontractors.

    • The air they breathe all day

Florida humidity does not just make a house uncomfortable — it feeds what grows in it. Filtration, purification and humidity control keep the air in your rooms clean as well as cold.

    • Fixed right the first time

We show you the failed part, quote the whole number before we start, then test the system and clean up behind us. Our work is guaranteed — that is the whole point of the name on the truck.

Duct cleaning FAQ — St. Augustine

Duct Cleaning Questions From St. Augustine

Straight answers, no jargon — including the ones that cost us money to answer honestly.

How often should air ducts be cleaned in St. Augustine?

There is no set schedule. The EPA recommends cleaning when there is a reason, like mold you can see, pests, or dust blowing out of the registers. Near the water, we check for moisture first, because damp ducts are where most problems start.

My house smells musty. Is it the ducts?

Sometimes, but not always. In St. Augustine a musty smell is often humidity in the house or standing water in the drain pan. We check the pan, the coil and the ducts, then tell you which one it is. Cleaning the ducts will not fix a humidity problem.

What does air duct cleaning include?

A camera look first. Then we cover the registers, put the system under negative pressure, and clean the supply and return runs, the plenums, the coil and the blower compartment. You get the pictures and a plain answer on what caused the dirt.

How much does air duct cleaning cost in St. Augustine?

It depends on the size of the house and on what the camera shows, so we look first. You get the price before any work starts. St. Augustine is inside our normal service area, at the same pricing as anywhere else we go.

My home has no ducts. Can you still help?

Yes. Many older St. Augustine homes use ductless units instead. Those need their filters and coils cleaned, not a duct cleaning. We service them and tell you what they need. See our ductless mini-split service.

Do you clean ducts on Anastasia Island and St. Augustine Beach?

Yes. St. Augustine, Lincolnville, Anastasia Island, Davis Shores, Vilano and St. Augustine Beach are all inside our normal service area. Call (904) 512-0091 or send the form, and we will come take a look.

Is Great Dane licensed for this work?

Yes. Great Dane Heating & Air is a Florida state certified air conditioning contractor, license CAC036942, and fully insured. You can look the license up before anyone comes to your house.
