What Comes With a Westside AC Service Call

We Do the Building Out Back

The Westside is the run where an address often means two or three buildings, and the calls repeat — the shop somebody wants usable in August, the room over the garage, the unit baking in full afternoon sun.

    Licensed & Insured

Florida state certified contractor CAC036942, fully insured, and accredited with the Better Business Bureau at an A+ rating. Every tech who pulls into your driveway works under that license.

    20+ Years in Service

Two decades across Duval County, out to the western edge of it. The people who answer your call are the same people who show up at your door.

    Every Job Gives Back

We’re a proud supporter of the Jacksonville Humane Society. Part of what you spend keeping your home comfortable helps shelter dogs here in Jacksonville find one of their own.

AC Replacement & Installation in Jacksonville

Old AC Out. New Comfort In.

When your air conditioner is past its prime, more AC repair isn’t always the answer. A new, energy-efficient AC installation can end the breakdown cycle, cool your home evenly, and take a real bite out of summer power bills.

Our Jacksonville team gives you the honest math on AC replacement vs. repair, sizes the new system correctly for Florida heat, and leaves the job site cleaner than we found it — just like this install.

When the Address Has More Than One Building

The Westside has room, and room changes the questions — what to do about the shop, how far the equipment sits from the house, and what an open lot does to a condenser in July.

A wall thermostat in a Jacksonville home, set for cooling
Set to 78° — nine months a year
The other buildingNot an extension of the house

A detached garage, shop or studio has its own load, its own hours and its own problems, and running the house system out to serve it is expensive in every direction. A ductless head out there is cheaper to install, cheaper to run and better at the job.

    The sunNothing shading anything

Open lots mean an outdoor unit that takes full afternoon sun with no tree line to break it. A condenser rejects heat into the air around it, and hotter surrounding air makes that harder. Clearance and shade are both cheap next to what they give back.

    The distanceLonger runs, quietly

Equipment set well away from the house means longer line sets and longer duct, and both give up a little of what you paid for along the way. None of that is a fault. All of it is worth getting right when it goes in rather than living with afterwards.

The mixNo single answer out here

A 1950s house can sit two doors from a subdivision built in the last ten years, and the right recommendation for one is wrong for the other. It is why we quote the house in front of us rather than the part of town it stands in.

Straight talk: If somebody tells you your system is “illegal now” because of the refrigerant rules — it isn’t. R‑410A systems can still be serviced. New equipment moved to R‑454B in 2025 and R‑410A production is stepping down, so topping off an older system gets pricier every year. That’s a reason to plan, not a reason to panic‑buy tonight.

Named for a Dog, and We Mean It

The Great Dane on the truck is the whole origin story. This company was started by people who are incurable about animals, and part of what it earns has always gone back toward the pet population of Duval County.

In practice that is rescue events, time spent with animals still waiting at the shelter, and a Rescue of the Week shared with everyone following along. It is also why we are a Paw Partner Corporate Sponsor of the Jacksonville Humane Society.

Comfortable in Every Building on the Property

A working air conditioner is comfort. Out here the question is often which building we are talking about, because the shop, the garage and the room over it all want answering differently.

    • Vetted people on your property

Florida state certified — licence CAC036942 — fully insured, and BBB accredited at an A+ rating. The same small crew every time, whichever building they end up working in.

    • The air in a working space

A garage or workshop is not a living room and should not be treated as one — there is dust, there are fumes, and there is a lot of unconditioned air coming and going. Filtration and the right kind of equipment matter more out there, not less.

    • One number, before we start

Whether it is the house or the building behind it, you see what failed and the whole figure before anything is touched. Our work is guaranteed — that is the whole point of the name on the truck.

    FAQ

    Sniff Out an Answer

The questions Jacksonville asks us most — straight answers, no jargon.

Can the detached garage be put on the house system?

It can be done and it is usually the wrong answer. The house system was sized for the house, and a detached building means a long run through unconditioned space to serve a room with completely different needs. A ductless head out there costs less to run, works better, and leaves the house system doing its own job.

The outdoor unit sits in full sun all afternoon.

Then it is working harder than it needs to. A condenser rejects heat into the air around it, and air that has been baking against a wall in the sun is worse at accepting it. Shade helps, clearance helps more, and neither is expensive next to the efficiency you get back.

The room over the garage is unusable in summer.

It nearly always is, because it has a hot garage below it, roof on three sides, and a duct run that had to travel to get there. It is the clearest case for its own head in the whole house — and the alternative, making the main system big enough to force the issue, makes the rest of the house worse.

What does it take to condition a workshop?

Less than most people expect, and it depends almost entirely on what happens in there. A shop with the door up half the day is a different problem from a closed studio. We will ask what you actually do in the space before quoting it, because that answer changes the equipment more than the square footage does.

The unit is a long way from the house. Does that matter?

A little, and it is worth knowing rather than worrying about. Longer line sets give up a small amount of performance and longer duct runs give up more, so the routing and the insulation deserve proper attention. It is not a reason to move anything; it is a reason to do the install carefully.

Two buildings, two systems — can one crew do both?

That is most of what we do out here. It is also easier on you, because the same people who sized the house know what the building behind it is being asked to do, and the two decisions are not made by strangers to each other.

Does a garage or shop system need looking at as often?

More often, usually. A working space has dust a living room does not, and that lands on the filter and then the coil far faster. The equipment is often simpler out there, but the maintenance interval that suits it is shorter, not longer.

What is the $99 HVAC Refresh & Tune‑Up?

A full seasonal check‑over of the system you already have — measurements taken, the parts that genuinely foul cleaned, and a straight answer about what needs attention and what does not. Out here we will also tell you honestly whether the second system on the property is on the same schedule. Cannot be combined with any other offer, one per household.

There is no shade on the lot at all. Anything to do?

Clearance first, shade second. Keeping the space around the cabinet genuinely clear does more than most people think, and anything that shades it without restricting airflow helps on top of that. What does not help is boxing it in, which is the usual instinct and the wrong one.

Do you come out this far west?

Regularly. Cedar Hills, Normandy, Argyle, Marietta and out toward Whitehouse are all inside the normal service area at the same pricing as anywhere else we go. Great Dane is licensed in Florida as CAC036942, which you are welcome to look up before you let anybody into the house.

Will you tell me if I do not need the work?

Yes, and out here that often means talking you out of extending the house system into a building it was never meant to reach. If the cheaper answer is the better one, that is the one you will get.

Anything worth checking before I call?

Three things that cost nothing. Check the breaker for the air handler and the outdoor unit. Look at the filter, because a collapsed one starves the system and imitates a much bigger fault. And clear whatever has grown up against the outdoor unit — on a lot this size something usually has.

Everything we do, in your neighborhood. One crew for all of it — not a different company for each job.
